In its simplest definition, forest bathing, or forest therapy, is nature connection. Being with nature, connecting through our senses of sight, hearing, taste, smell, and touch.
Forest bathing is a form of ecotherapy that focuses on the therapeutic benefits of being among the trees. Also known as shinrin-yoku in Japan where it was developed, forest bathing is a research-based healing practice that involves being among the trees with the aim of improving mental and physical health, while at the same time enjoying and appreciating the forest environment.
In my certification school. I was taught forest bathing as a mindful practice of being in nature for our own well-being and that of the planet’s, inviting connection to all of life.
